Position Overview:

The Network Architect must display strong team work with the ability to work independently and actively participate on integrated teams. The primary responsibilities include creating, maintaining and modifying the IPnetworkhardware, software and virtualized components. In this role you will assess the existing network technologies to increase the performance, security & efficiency, and ensure that the sharing and transmission of data remains controlled within the environment. The incumbent will work in collaboration with the network engineers, network administrators and other professionals in network setup and configuration and continuously examine and evaluate the network performance and make changes as required.
Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Design and implement network architecture taking into consideration various factors to include bandwidth requirements, infrastructure requirements and security.
  • Provide the best solutions to meet the requirements within the bandwidth constrains
  • Assess near term and long term network capacity needs
  • Develop the required engineering documentation and providing support to include systems O&M, patching, upgrading, security hardening, implementing corrective actions
  • Configure and optimize network hubs, routers, and switches
  • Develop and implement network backup and recovery procedures
  • Diagnose network connectivity problem
  • Expand or modify network infrastructure to serve new purposes or improve work flow
  • Implement new system design procedures, test procedures, and quality standards
  • Create project plans for implementation of new infrastructure or design changes in order for engineers to implement
  • Install and maintain network infrastructure devices and operating system software.
  • Monitor network capacity and performance maintaining continuity
  • Patch network vulnerabilities to ensure information is safeguarded against external parties
  • Provide feedback on network requirements, including network architecture and infrastructure
  • Provide advanced tier 2 and 3 technical support
  • Repair network connectivity problems as well as test and maintain network infrastructure including software and hardware devices
  • Maintain required IA baseline and computing environment (CE) certifications in compliance with DoD 8750 IAT Level II

Required Skills and Qualifications:
Security Clearance: Secret

  • CCNP Certification
  • Security+ CE Certification
  • 5+ years of experience as a network engineer
  • Skilled in analyzing network traffic capacity and performance characteristics
  • Skilled in configuring and utilizing hardware-based computer protection components
  • Skilled in configuring and utilizing network protection components.
  • Skilled in developing, testing, and implementing network infrastructure contingency and recovery plans
  • Skilled in establishing a routing schema
  • Skilled in implementing, maintaining, and improving established network security practices
  • Skilled in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting LAN and WAN components such as routers, hubs, and switches
  • Skilled in protecting a network against malware
  • Skilled in securing network communications
  • Skilled in using network management tools to analyze network traffic patterns
  • Must demonstrate a "can-do attitude
