Data Center Engineer

Job Summary:

The Datacenter engineer will be working in a fast paced IT environment. The Datacenter Engineer will be working with internal and external customers for the configuration and administration of all IT systems within the Datacenters. They will primarily be responsible for the installation, configuration, and management of all hardware, software, and operating system deployments within the organization. They will assist the IT team with any other duties as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform installation, and configuration of both desktop and server operating system deployments for various operating systems
  • Perform installation, configuration, and administration of various hypervisors
  • Responsible for maintaining and upgrading our data center equipment and servers
  • Responsible for isolating, researching, and resolving problems for critical enterprise systems
  • Responsible for all enterprise level domain services installation, configuration, management, and troubleshooting
  • Promptly report all equipment or system anomalies
  • Train, develop, and mentor the IT team as required to drive excellence from each member
  • Maintain logs, record readings, document equipment histories, and prepare engineering documentation
  • Oversee and continuously work on tickets or requests and process demands proactively
  • Ensure periodic service and maintenance of Data Center appliances and equipment
  • Perform required Data Center corrective maintenance as directed on all specified equipment
  • Provide access and escort service to subcontractors working in engineering areas as required
  • Develop, collaborate, and maintain solid relationships with other IT teams and 3rd parties
  • Respond quickly and appropriately to all emergencies occurring in the Data Center or IT environment
  • Work independently or with other team members as directed or required
  • Perform hands-on operation and maintenance of all Data Center related equipment
  • Administration of SQL databases
  • Strong knowledge in all windows server services
  • Perform backup management and administration
  • Perform storage management and administration
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements: (Clearance/Citizenship)

  • Security Clearance: Secret
  • VCP 6.0 or above
  • 2012 or 2016 MCSA
  • Security+ CE
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle after hour and on call support
  • The candidate must have a car and a valid driver's license, as this position requires after hour support
  • Must demonstrate a "can-do” attitude

Experience:

  • 4+ years of experience as a Data Center System Administrator
  • 2+ year of experience with VMware vCenter and VMware ESXi is preferred
  • 2+ years of experience with Hyper-V and SCVMM
  • Experience working with and supporting Microsoft technologies
  • Strong experience working with Windows Server
  • Experience supporting Servers and Storage Devices
  • Strong experience with Virtualization Technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Strong experience supporting and configuring ESX
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory

Shift information:

  • On-Call: After hours on call will be shared and on a "rotational” basis.
  • Schedule: 0800 – 1600 (M-F)
